About Us
Situated on Dublins waterfront in the bustling Irish Financial Services Centre, the 'chq' or 'custom house quay' building - an award winning architectural masterpiece - was the choice for our second venue. At ely bar & brasserie, our guests can choose from a list of over 400 wines and enjoy wonderful, continental cuisine. Stack A, as it was originally called, was completed in 1821 by one of the most remarkable engineers of his era, John Rennie, as a cast-iron, bonded wine and tobacco warehouse. Now renamed chq, the building has been beautifully restored and enhanced by an international team of architects, glass and lighting consultants.
When our guests walk into our stunning vaulted wine cellars there is a real sense of taking a step back in time. We have restored the vaults and created a relaxed lounging area with two private dining rooms for private functions and wine tasting. In contrast, reflecting the contemporary vibe of this bustling waterfront district, the impressive glass atrium bar, has it's own oyster bar and serves beers, spirits, wines and cocktails, while the heated waterside patio, allows for atmospheric dining al fresco. ely bar and brasserie spectacularly showcase what we do best at ely; great wines and beers and smooth food in a relaxed convivial atmosphere.
