Welcome to Dublin

Welcome to Dublin.  Ireland celebrates its patron saint, St. Patrick, on the 17th of March each year. Dublin hosts the biggest and most extravagant St. Patrick's Day Parade outside of New York City. Over half of Dublin's one million population, plus more than a hundred thousand visitors from all around Ireland and from abroad, line the streets of the city centre and turn it into Ireland's largest street carnival.  Marching bands from Ireland, Europe and the USA partake in the parade. The music played at the parade ranges from Irish pipe and drum marches to current chart hits, bands also compete with each other in costumes and dance routines.

Ireland has a deep rooted connection with this year’s theme, Storytelling. Street theatre and pageant companies, gear up to dazzle with their artistic interpretations of the 2019 theme. Their worldly performances and magnificent creations are set to intertwine seamlessly with Dublin’s streets as the capital poses as a backdrop for the extravaganza.

Domestic and international bands will deliver rhythmically captivating musical scores that are sure to echo through the streets of the capital. The Festival Parade is a monumental occasion for Ireland and boasts an unforgettable atmosphere that cannot be missed. The Festival and its procession are on track to charm a record breaking number of attendees this year.
